JOB DESCRIPTION
The project coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Kenya Primary Literacy Program (KPLP) at Nakuru County Youth Bunge Forum. The role involves program activities, managing resources, ensuring timely delivery of activity outputs, and with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Implementation
- Develop detailed work plans and schedules for KPLP activities.
- Coordinate the implementation of KPLP activities in accordance with the work plan.
- Monitor progress and ensure the timely completion of activity milestones.
- Resource Management
- Manage activity resources, including financial, human, and material resources.
- Ensure efficient and effective use of activity resources to achieve activity objectives.
- Prepare and submit regular financial and programmatic reports.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with activity stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, local community organizations, teachers, parents, and learners.
- Facilitate communication and coordination among stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
- Represent the activity in meetings, workshops, and other forums as required.
- Team Management
- Supervise and support activity staff, including Teacher Assistants, Grade 1-3 English teacher, and Instructional Coaches.
- Provide regular feedback and guidance to activity staff to enhance their performance and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address any personnel issues as needed.
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Work closely with the MEL Officer to track activity progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets.
- Participate in regular monitoring visits and ensure data collection is accurate and timely.
- Use monitoring data to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement and adjust to Kenya Primary Literacy Program (KPLP) activities accordingly.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and submit high-quality reports to the Grants manager/specialist (s) as required.
- Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from the activity.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all Kenya Primary Literacy Program activities and outputs.
- Risk Management
- Identify potential risks to activity implementation and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and address any issues or challenges that arise during activity implementation.
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education, USAID and NCYBF organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Education, Social Sciences, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in an education-focused program.
- Skills: Strong project planning and management skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management softwares.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead a team.
- Knowledge of USAID project management requirements and guidelines is preferred.
